Luke Fry says ” Over many years, we’ve refined our design language while always creating unique projects”

For Luke, every project he undertakes is unique. At the very heart of his design ethos is a desire to create pure and uncomplicated spaces that are intrinsically meaningful. “Our design approach is to create a refined simplicity in our work, spaces that evoke a sense of calm,” he says.

His foray into the design world has been a lifelong passion. “I was always very creative, mostly in graphic design and visual arts at school,” he says. Luke’s family were in construction, so he says architecture and interior design were a natural progression for him. He formalised his qualifications with a Bachelor of Interior Design and a Bachelor and Masters in Architecture.

Luke Fry has since established an inspiring career that continues to evolve. As a design professional he’s worked with the likes of Jackson Clements Burrows Architects, Rob Mills Architecture & Interiors and Travis Walton Architecture. But seven years ago, Luke decided the time was right to fly solo with his own
firm. “I started my own practice in 2015 off the back of a friend’s project and it has grown to what it is today,” he says.

With eco-consciousness front of mind, Luke aims to create energy-efficient projects and sources high-quality materials and products. The business continues to proactively seek out and learn about new principles and practices.

For Luke, designing a building with spaces that live and breathe is both a powerful and sobering experience. “Our work has a big impact on people’s lives in many ways. Plus, the legacy we leave behind is very humbling; our work will exist for far longer than we will and be experienced by the generations to come,” he says.

Luke designs a lot with concrete, timber and natural stone — time-honoured products. “In terms of longevity and quality, these materials are proven over many years and familiar to us all,” he says.

Design is a bespoke experience for Luke. “Over many years, we’ve refined our design language while always creating unique projects,” he says. “We’d never repeat a previous design, but our own projects are always inspiring us for the next one.”

His goal is to challenge himself with bigger and better buildings across a variety of categories. This passionate and dedicated designer says in life, simplicity is key, so we really should pump the brakes and relish the ride. “It’s important to slow down and enjoy the process and not only be focused on the end goal,” he says.
