What is your favourite meal to cook at home?
Definitely pasta. My friend Jamie Yates is an incredible chef and she’s been teaching me the art of making it from scratch. It’s a tactile process that is both fun and meditative. It’s also surprisingly easy and has the added bonus of making you look like a far more accomplished cook than you actually are. She just hosted a pasta-making class at Hope St Radio, so keep an eye out for the next one!
Where do you buy your clothes and what are your favourite clothing labels right now?

I’m not much of a shopper, so I usually save it for when I’m overseas. It feels less like a chore and more like an adventure when wandering through different neighbourhoods and finding those tucked-away stores you’d never come across at home. The last trip was in Tokyo, which has such an amazing mix — from high-end boutiques to an incredible second-hand scene where you can pick up designer pieces from recent seasons for a fraction of the price. The Edwin Concept Shop in Harajuku is a favourite for Japanese denim, and always has a playful take on the classics.
Where is your favourite place to dine?

La Pinta in Reservoir. It’s seasonal, simple, and consistently delicious. Best of all, it’s mostly walk-ins, so you can just decide to go at the last minute without any planning.
Favourite cafe?
CIBI in Collingwood. It’s a Japanese cafe with great food, and an adjoining store filled with well-made Japanese kitchenware. You’ll go in for a coffee and leave with a new cast-iron pan.
What are you reading/listening to right now (book, podcast etc)?
I recently read The Sunbird by Sara Haddad (no relation). It’s a moving, beautifully written novel that everyone should read.
What music are you listening to right now?

I love discovering music that comes from outside my usual frame of reference. There’s a label in Berlin called Habibi Funk that reissues rare funk, soul and jazz from the Arab world. Through them I’ve been listening to Rogér Fakhr, who was recording soulful folk in Beirut in the 1970s.
Favourite artwork in your home or favourite artist?
A woodblock print called Tierra o Muerte by Melbourne artist A.kid. He’s also a brilliant DJ and music producer, who also creates album art for local musicians.
Do you have a favourite magazine/online source?
Divisare.com is an online treasure trove of beautifully curated architectural projects from all over the world.
What is your favourite homewares brand?
I have a soft spot for my Moccamaster filter coffee machine. There’s one at home and one in the office, and they’re basically the unsung heroes keeping the Archier team caffeinated and productive.
What is your favourite furniture piece at home?

A low-slung chair designed by Gio Ponti. I’m still not exactly sure which model it is, but it’s a piece I love for its relaxed elegance and comfort.
What other interior designers and architects inspire you?
There are many interior designers and architects to choose from, but I find myself just as inspired by theatre set design and choreography as I am by architecture. Artists such as Dimitris Papaioannou and Yoann Bourgeois create these dreamlike worlds that push the boundaries of how the human body moves through space; it’s like a surreal, kinetic form of architecture.
